Ah, it was funny the first time: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=830172
double posting is never funny.
Topic was discussed million times...use search button and u will get your perspective.

Will it suddenly affect the way your program recruits and picks candidates for residency? Likely not. Quit patronizing us with this thread and go fix a bone.
The main reason why this has become a pressing problem for me is that my brother is about to go to DO school and I want to find out if he is making a good choice. He got into 13 DO schools, all of the Carribean big 4, and wait listed at 3 US MD schools.
As a MD, I just want my brother to have the same opportunities that I had. I have heard that half of people who go to the Caribbean end up failing the USMLE terribly.
I am a orthopaedic surgery resident at Duke
Then you should know the general consensus on DOs vs Caribbean MDs. Why go on a forum when you can ask your colleagues?
So you're a resident at Duke? Let's do an easy test. Where do most families, visitors and employees eat in Duke Hospital North?
we have a cafe in the north hospital with a great starbucks
I'm assuming you meant Atrium Cafe. What's the first food station that's directly in front of the main entrance of that cafeteria?
hahah. asking this question is epic! we've narrowed down our choices to 5 supposedly potential females.
TO ALL THE HATERS:
At the end of the day, Ummmm, all the people who are rooting for me to fail, ummm, at the end of the day, they have to wake up tomorrow and have the same life that they had before they woke up today, they got the same personal problems they had, today. You know, and Im gonna continue to live the way I want to live, and continue to do the things I wannna do with me and my family they gotta get back to the real world at some point.
You are seriously quoting Lebron?
DO vs. MD
Defend your side and give evidence to back up your claims.

Listen, you are doing several things here that you probably shouldn't. MD vs DO threads are frowned upon here. It doesn't start a civilized debate but it does sound pretty ignorant. If you want to know if your brother is making a good decision, then why ask a bunch of pre-meds and med students their opinions? Our opinions don't matter. What you need are facts. Look at the match stats for DO graduates. Look at the pass rates for the COMLEX and USMLE. Better yet, why don't you ask your brother about it? Also, we have a search function which should answer the vast majority of your questions/concerns. Use it.
Slow day in the OR today?
No need for a comparison, this has been done before.
I am not "embarrassed" to become a DO.
Please troll elsewhere these waters have already been overfished by other pretentious MD's.
Have a nice day.
Well things have been so easy for me in my life with my 41 MCAT; that I have always been in a DO free environment. Most of my classmates in med school did not even consider DO school because they all had 35+ MCAT scores.
if only I was 35+ I'd be DO-free.damn my 35 even.if only I was 35+ I'd be DO-free.
In all seriousness, you claimed to have a purpose in the last thread. This thread just has none. It doesn't help your credibility if you dont even try to figure out what you claim to want to know.

It must be very scary to go to med school in Brooklyn as your details say you do. I salute you.

This has been a great experience for me, and it has helped me grow.
Nobody cares where you went to school, what you or your classmates got on the MCAT and where you are doing your residency.

I care. I enjoy making new friends, and to do that I need to know more about them!
I have heard that the big 4 Caribbean is way better then going DO because that way you do not have to live a life of shame and embarrassment that come along with being a DO.
From the OP's other thread-
I have never looked down on anyone's occupation; everyone has their place in this world. He/she obviously does not respect your occupation and is trolling for the heck of it.
To each his own I guess. 🙂
There is no font on SDN that properly communicates the strong ribbon of sarcasm that runs through my posts. If there was half of my posts would be trite.
