Hey everyone
I just wanted to share some info here I thought might help for people in organic, I have been using exam crackers organic book along with my text(Wade) and I have found it very, very helpful. I have gotten high A's on both my exams so far(even though after I always think I did bad, hehe) and I think although Wade is very good, the examcrackers book sort of summarizes the important point. Just thought that might help.
J🙂

I second that. Examkrackers is awesome.

Nice.... good to know! Thanks!

I'm using Wade's 4th edition of Organic Chemistry along with the textbook assigned by my professor...Vollhardt&Schore's Organic Chemistry. I don't think I could handle another book to work out of...lol.

I must be weird... I actually like Vollhardt & Schore. Its one of the better science texts I've used.

I've heard good things about Wade though.

i dunno, we're using the bruice 4th edition, it's ok, i guess, but i never thought to use examcrakers, thanx for the tip

Any other advice on materials besides exam crackers? My book is carey... It is not that great in my opinion and the professor doesnt even follow it. The tests are kind of hard to study for with the class set up like that, and I am looking for materials to make it Bettah!.

Hmm, random question. So I've seen ya'll use a few orgo books. Anyone here use McMurray? I'm try to get a sense for what books have been popular.

thx.

McMurray is an EXCELLENT book, although it does cover a few reactions that aren't covered in most other orgo books. I found McMurray very clear and easy to follow and enjoyed my entire year of undergrad organic. You could almost learn organic on your own following the mcmurray book.

well i liked V and S only because it served well as a doorstop 😉

if you were taught by prof vollhardt you wouldnt say the same thing. haha. well he did show amusing videos with porno music but those damn nomenclature tests were just lame.

 I probably would have a different opinion then.

Videos with porno music sound pretty amusing.

I'm doing the same thing. I use Wade to understand the concepts and then do the problems from Vollhardt. So Far, I've gotten A's on both of my test (hehehe) I think the key to orgo is doing a little bit each night and understanding the mechanism of the reaction. Just my 2 cents 😀

What school do you go to vegagirl? I've just noticed how the questions from both midterms of my orgo I class were really nothing like the questions in the back of Wade's book or the questions in the back of V&S's book. I think my professor just prefers to use his own style of questions.

Yes pre-dent David that is the book🙂

David...'m using Carey too...at first I didn't like it but now I'm liking it more. My prof jumps around too...like we went chapters 1-4, then chapter 8, then chapter 6-7...My lecturer is god awful, and I was never a big lecture attender anyhow so I've been studying primarily from the Carey book these days. EK would be helpful though.

I go to Loyola University Chicago. I'm a second generation Loloa girl (my mom went here and majored in BIO) and my uncle went to stritch 🙂 PS Chicago is awesome, lots of great vegan food

Janel---

I thought we lost you to MTV hell...what is going on? What's life like in Buffalo after SL2 hit the town...?

people told me there are lots of mistakes in examkrackers booksand their 1001 series....

I don't remember any, but maybe I just forgot. There's gonna be a few mistakes in any book. Editors can't catch everything, I guess. The strength in EK is how they present the material.

Hey Xcanadian hahaha
Buffalo is ok🙂
Anyways, I also noticed a few errors in the examcrackers book, but nothing too major (I knew they were errors, like misprints) but as the last poster said, it is the way they present the material that makes it so good.
