A Tip to Improve your PAT score

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Do them high. That's what I'm doing on my topscore pat and I've never scored a 22 before!!!😀

So do you plan to take the DAT high?

You should try and interview while you are high. See how it goes. If you smoke up in the car right before you interview, maybe your interviewer will ask you if it is possible to "get some." You could start a party. A little ice, a little drink, a lot of smoke, and zing. It could make it easier for the rest of us. Good luck.

🙄 Grow up...dentists are representitive of the population as a whole, some dentists are bound to be 420 buddies. Hell, that's not even necessarily a bad thing, my dentists smoked during d-school and guess what...he's the best dentist is know!

Well...

When one sets the precedent for experimentation with drugs, then this is probably not the best person to prescribe drugs or have access to narcotics on a daily basis...

If you truly believe this: bring it up to any member of an admissions committee and I am sure they will agree with you. :meanie:

well, he's just playing around... not a very funny joke, though... but pretty harmless.

Thanks judge Judy!

BTW, I was kidding about doing PAT high. 😀

🙂
oy, that's the first time I've heard of such a tip to increase the PAT score. Even if that works... what about the science portions of the test......???

Alcohol has a calming effect and may actually increase DAT scores.

Dentists aren't representative of the population as a whole - professionals are held to a higher standard. They screen and interview people for dental school for a reason, and they have codes of professional conduct for a reason. Give someone at the ADA a ring and ask if they're cool with people abusing schedule I drugs. I realize people do it, but I don't think condoning it is a part of "growing up."

Hmmm. Well, I think a person who's experimented with drugs would be more versed in knowing their specific effects and thus more educated in prescribing them. Would I argue this fact in front of the admissions committee? Hell no.

I never suggested that anyone condone it, I just think it's outrageous to be "shocked" at the notion.

Also, just because someone is a health professional doesn't exclude them from acting "just like everyone else" when it comes to the baser things in life. There are murderer dentists, druggie doctors and thieving vets; health professionals are not gods..they're people.

You're probably gonna think I'm the hard-assed nerd of the century for doing this, but these are the first two dictionary definitions of condone:

1. to disregard or overlook (something illegal, objectionable, or the like).
2. to give tacit approval to: By his silence, he seemed to condone their behavior.

From your post about that dentist, I think that's exactly what you were saying. Dentists aren't gods, but I think you'd agree that people expect a higher standard of behavior out of health professionals. Isn't a story about a murdering doctor or dentist a little more surprising than one about the average Joe doing the same?

I'm not trying to start a huge argument here - I'm just disagreeing that dentists are representative of the population as a whole, and so we should expect exactly the same behavior out of them. You're definitely right, it's outrageous to be shocked about it. But at the same time, I think it's reasonable to expect higher standards of conduct and law-obeying amongst dentists than the rest of the general population, so in that, they aren't representative of the population of the whole.

Okay, enough of my word games. 🙂 Take care.

Century no, Decade maybe 😉

Just to get a little picky, how we expect professionals to conduct themselves and how they actually do are two diferent things, and you can't assume because it's expected a professional act...professional that they do.

Also, I think a single person can wear many different hats, someone can be professional at work and be low-standarded, law-breakers on their own time.
