This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I had a question for my EC contact info/verification info.

I volunteer at a place tutoring youth (don't want to be too specific) and usually sign my name on a sign in sheet and my hours. However, the people "in charge" don't speak English well and I'm not sure how well that would work out if med schools call to verify. There are a few higher up people who are like the board who don't really come to the center bc they have other commitments and usually are not available by phone, but they do regularly check the official email for this place/their own emails (as far as I know).

So, should I provide just the official email on AMCAS? Or the phone and email? Or talk to one of the board members who speak English well? How should I list the contact person basically, any help appreciated!

Just use the email and let one of the board people know you listed it! Although they literally just need a simple confirmation if they called. So if the people who don't know english well can respond to something like "Did Joe volunteer as a tutor for around 200 hours during this time?" then they should be fine. Just let them know ahead of time someone might email them about you.

What language do they speak? If it's Spanish, a school could get a translator easy peasy. Cherokee, maybe not so much.

Either way, I suggest you just list the e-mail and phone number for the place, and then mention the predominant language in your description of the activity.

The POC for my biggest volunteer experience was a South American in South America who spoke very little English. Worked out fine for me, and I doubt a school that's interested would pass on you over this.

List the usual Contact person and mention the primary language of communication in the narrative space. Email only is fine if your contact is comfortable using this mode of communication.
