More importantly - what's the longest you went without a shower while working on your secondary essays? 😉

Makes one wonder if somewhere out there is a grid with three columns where you can connect sentence fragments to generate secondary essays.

And the “—“

Honestly, the "—" is probably the most used "term" in my application as a whole — I'm glad that others share this point of view.
Well ****. I use “-“ not “—“. Am I in trouble? TBF, I also used many “; and : and () and *” to mix it up...

Sir, the em dash serves a far different purpose from the n dash or the hyphen. However, the semi colon— another worthy character in the world of punctuation— would likely give you that grammar clout you seek.

How would you use the n dash? I understand the hyphen in a connect-these-words sort of way, but - aside from its use as a hyphen - can the ‘n dash’ not be used in the way I just did? I used it that way everywhere...

The en dash isn't that common tbh, and hard to tell the difference between it and a hyphen or em dash because its between them in length. But it basically just means "through", like "Pages 45–50" or "August–December".

Edit: most people just use a hyphen for the en dash. also I'm joshin ya, nearly no one cares this much about the length of your dashes, unless they're me for some reason.

you have 4.5 Interview invites so I don't think I'd worry about it too much

Huh, didn’t know there was a difference between all of these or even specific names. I just call them “dash.” Will anyone care?

Literally zero people will care, I'm just having fun with my useless knowledge of dash lengths 🙂

I don’t have any useless dash length information to exchange back. However, in exchange for your useless knowledge I give you this:

Floccinaucinihilipilification - the act of habit of estimating as worthless.

The floccinaucinihilipilification by adcoms of various dash usages in your application is inevitable.
