I was in NYU's General Studies program, where I got my AA then matriculated into the Arts & Sciences College. My NYU transcript excludes the General Studies curriculum courses from my GPA. The General Studies program was 2 years long. However, the Arts & Sciences electives that I took during those two years are indeed included in my GPA.

The General Studies curriculum included classes like Cultural Foundations and Social Foundations (classics, philosophy). If these courses were included in my GPA calculation, it would drop almost 0.2! I know med schools will see these grades, but will they recalculate my GPA and include these grades? I hear so much emphasis about number crunching and needing X GPA just to get your application seriously reviewed, so I am worried that if med schools recalculate my GPA including these AA/General Studies courses, I will fall into a lower GPA bracket.

EVERY CLASS YOU HAVE EVER TAKEN AT A COLLEGE IS INCLUDED.

GPAs do not transfer, that's why it doesn't show up on your nyu transcript.

They will recalc your GPA. On the plus side, adcom will notice that your grades improved over time and that is better than a constant low-ish GPA.
