I have already submitted my primary app to AACOMAS with a reported score of 32. I am re-taking the MCAT july 10th as some allo schoold want to see better scores from me to make up for my GPA. Question is "Will AACOMAS ever see the Jully 10th score if I dont report it" Need to know quick

No. You have to manually authorize the MCAT services to send a report. Did you indicate you were re-taking it on your application? If so, they are expecting you report it. However, if you didn't then your application will be processed as is.

Why you would retake with a 32, unless you have a 7 or less in one subject, is beyond me.

That being said, I would assume it is somewhat like a transcript. They won't see it if you don't send it, but if they find out your retook it and didn't send it they would be unhappy.

What if you didn't list a re-take on your app b/c you weren't sure if you were going to when you submitted the app? Can you report your score after it comes in or is it too late b/c they processed your app as is?

Moot point for me, I just dropped my exam date...thax for everyone's input though. Really nice to be a part of this community even if I am a lurker most of the time

My LAST transcript was FINALLY posted today -- it was sent June 20th. 🙂

I know this seems like the norm but this same transcript was sent May 15th and June 4th...so I'm relieved it finally showed up!

Grrr...
I called AACOMAS today and asked about my transcript. I sent it a month ago and it still wasn't there. First of all, the guy was really rude...and then all he told me was "well, uh, you should probably just send it again." So then I thought, "ok, maybe the college messed this up." So I went to the college and asked them if they had sent it and they were absolutely positive that they did. So apparently my transcript is sitting under a pile on someone's desk in Chevy Chase, Maryland..

I didn't list that I was going to take another MCAT b/c I wasn't. I was going to retake it next year if I didn't get in anywhere. But I decided last month that it would be best to take it this summer but I already submitted my app. Is there a way to turn in my new scores or did I shoot myself in the foot? (unless I score lower haha j/k)

AACOMAS will let you update your application with your new MCAT score. 🙂

Oh I'm glad that I'm not in this alone! I've been freaking out about one last transcript getting to AACOMAS...AMCAS posted the same one about 2 weeks ago!! I was getting ready to go down to the school because I thought they messed up...apparently it's just AACOMAS being slow🙁
Yea, same here but AACOMAS finally got all mine, like 3+ weeks after I requested them. wow!

Also...listing repeated classes.

I find the classification to list a class as a repeat...BUT...I cant seem to figure out how to mark a class as 'LAST REPEAT' as there doesn't seem to be a choice and it seems that general repeat is the only option

any ideas?

anyone???

Awesome, so should I post that I'm taking another MCAT now or just update with the actual score when it comes in? I'm taking the July 18th MCAT.

I would go and update AACOMAS with your anticipated MCAT date now so schools know you are retaking.

Good Luck :luck:

When referring to the spring semester of the 2006-2007 year, do I say it's year 2006 or 2007??? does this even matter?

A few urgent questions regarding the AACOMAS application:

1) I took classes senior year of high school at my local community college. I didn't do so well on them because it was very lax that time of year for me. However, since I took additional courses (physics, calculus) at the same comm college, the dreaded earlier classes obviously show up on my transcript as well. Since there is no
academic status lower than freshman available(which is defined by AACOMAS as 0-32 credit hours), would I mention myself as freshman for those classes even though I was in high school? Or would I not mention those courses at all.

2) Under the Course column when entering grades, do you enter the whole course name or just the abbreviated form? For example, if Calculus I is the course name and MATH251 is the course abbreviation, would I put Calculus I under the course column or just MATH?

3)I recently graduated from my undergrad university and am retaking certain classes I got C's in. Would I be designated as Graduate or Post-Baccalaureate Academic Status?

Any answers and information would be helpful. Thanks guys!

its spring of 2007, and yes i'm pretty sure it matters. spring of 2006 would be the 05-06 school year.

francheezy: i sadly do not know the answer to any of your questions, sorry!! hopefull someone else will help you out soon.

Also, does anyone know if Cultural Anthropology would be considered as part of the AACOMAS science or non-science GPA? According to the list considered as non-science provided by AACOMAS, cultural geography is listed but under the list other science (which counts as science gpa), physical anthropology is listed. Even though cultural anthropology isn't listed on either list, my guess is it would be considered non-science. What do you guys think?

Probably non-science since they specified physical anth. Seriously, go with your gut... and your gut seems to be right. 😉

Yes, you have to count them. Put down freshman.

Enter it exactly as it appears on your transcript.

Post bac, because you are not officially enrolled in a graduate program.

Good Luck! :luck:

Never mind. That's what I get for not reading the whole thread first 🙂

since you already requested your scores for the other date, I think any changes is automatic. Plus if the school you are trying to get a high score for wants the results and you said that you retaken them they will want the score high or low. So you will have to have them on your app. anyway.

i guess if you are applying to ivy schools, 32 wont get you there. I know someone with 34 is studying hardcore to score a 37 to be in standing for stanford. it also doesnt help when you are an asian/caucasian

So I sent my application to AACOMAS over 4 weeks ago; it took over three weeks for them to get my transcripts, and I'm still not verified.

Meanwhile i sent my application to AMCAS yesterday, and although I'm not yet verified I already got notification about secondaries from some of my schools.

Is this typical?

I was wondering about this too. I have 4 transcripts (don't ask...), and had the sets for AACOMAS and AMCAS sent at the same time. AMCAS was quicker about posting them to my app, but AACOMAS was never more than a day or two behind. Until the last one. AMCAS posted it over 2 weeks ago, and still nothing in AACOMAS. I was starting to wonder if I should be worried.

EDIT:
Ok, I just emailed them, we'll see what they say....

I know Kinesiology classes are considered "Other Science". I was thinking this was for classes like Exercise Physiology, neuro bio, etc. But I have other Kinesiology classes like Ethics and Sport Psychology that I currently have classified an "other NON science" but I am not sure if that's right. Does anyone have an answer?😕

I emailed AACOMAS but have yet to hear back and I tried calling but it was after hours. Basically I am waiting on an answer to submit my application!

Well I'm not completely sure, but I'll say this:

1. When a bio major takes Writing Methods in Biology (or whatever), they put it down as science. Is it technically a science in the way that Biochem is a science? Nope. It's writing intensive, but it's in the bio department and it's based in biology. With this rationale, I'd put any Kinesiology department classes as other science.

2. What's the worst that can happen? Your GPA doesn't get quite the boost you thought it would, they change the classification, and you have to wait an extra hour to be verified? I'd chance it.

BTW if anyone has expert insight into this, and I'm completely wrong, please don't hesitate to put me in my place. 👍

Well since you said it was your LAST one to send in, I'd chalk it up to exponentially increasing lag times between receipt of transcripts and notifying the applicant. Mine were pretty quickly updated, right after AACOMAS opened, but this quickly became a source of frustration as the weeks went on.

I guess your right. It shouldn't take long for them to change the classifications if
necessary
. I just didn't want "problems" once I submitted the application. THANKS!

Yeah I totally get that. AMCAS and TMDSAS have had to change stuff on my app in the past, and it didn't cause me any delays. HOWEVER, AACOMAS is about eight times slower than the other two...I still wouldn't be worried.

The last thing you might consider is whether this will boost your sciGPA. I'm assuming it will. If not, then you could always just go the safe route. Any significant chance of a boost, though, and I'd risk a small delay.

hey, i'm a kines major as well and I took Sports Psychology. I classified it under "Other science" because it is listed under "Kinesiology" and it really was more sports/motor learning than psychology. I guess if they dont agree they will change it.

Can/should AACOMAS be submitted without having recieved the transcript from my school? Will this be of any benefit whatsoever or should I just wait for the transcript to be sent? AACOMAS also doesn't have any mcat score from me yet.

It can only benefit you to submit now. They might just be sitting on your transcript and haven't updated the status. Worst case scenario, you continue to wait for the transcript. I don't get it? What's the up side of waiting?

Not that there is an upside to waiting but maybe it wouldn't help the cause to submit the application without a transcript or mcat yet.

Do they need the MCAT score to verify you? Anyone?

The transcript issue is easy: They are often not notifying students that they got them until weeks later. Don't wait for this to submit.

Even if you haven't sent it to them yet, I wouldn't wait to submit. It seems useless.

Did it take them a long time to list that your official transcripts and mcat scores had been recieved? All of mine were sent out on July 1st, but they're not listed yet. Should I resend them?

Give it another week or two before emailing them about it. It's taken some people nearly a month to have their 'transcripts received' status updated. They probably have them sitting on their desk right now.

I had my transcripts sent in on the 2nd of July, and the application web page still says they haven't been received. I called my University's transcripts office and verified that they have been sent, and its been over a week. Has anyone else had this problem? Would it help to call AACOMAS??

Thanks.

Hey short quick question do you have to pay to get verify for the accomas transcript? Like I sent my transcript in already. So I don't know if I just sit back and wait or is there something I have to do? It shows up that they have received my transcript already, but it is not calculated by them. I haven't finish my PS statement 🙁 is that the reason for the hold? Thanks for any reply

Yes. Call them ASAP and get it over with that way you can be on track to getting verified. That's what I did anyway and it worked out.
