I noticed that the submission date is May 4th and that typically submitting early is beneficial. But I noticed that schools do not process the applications until June 15th. Will it matter what time I submit everything in as long as it is within that period of time?

Submit as soon as you possibly can so that AACOMAS can verify your application. This can take a few weeks sometimes. Only once it’s verified will the schools begin recieving and processing your primary.

So the process is essentially the same as AMCAS? I can begin entering my information on May 4th, but it won’t actually begin to be verified until June 15th?

what is the latest to send primaries and still be in good position?

I sent primaries off in December for some schools(panicked at two rejections) and got interviews. I wouldn't do that though.

So if I submitted by AACOMAS for 2017-2018, how do I submit AACOMAS for 2018-2019 without having to redo everything? Are there instructions there to resubmit a previous application (allowing for any updated information)?

does application get verified without MCAT score or if you have a mcat score but are planning to retake? Or do you have to wait for verification once new mcat is sent out? No school with review app without mcat score, correct?

Speaking from applying last year, i retook the MCAT in Sept of 2017, some schools sent secondaries based on my Sept 2014 MCAT and some wouldnt until my 2017 MCAT was available

I just went on the AACOMAS app and is it true we can’t even start entering info until May 4, but submission begins May 4 as well? So basically no one is able to submit on day 1? Or am I missing something? I’m just confused by the differences between DO and AMCAS.

Submitting app to throw away school to get verified first day and then submitting apps to all schools July 31st with great everything but Mcat ~500...would this push me back or lower my chances drastically?

Before the application closed for 2017-2018 cycle, I entered my course information and personal information as this is extremely tedious and annoying. Now that the cycle has closed, I just checked and my info is still there. Hopefully it stays that way for a couple more weeks.

Good to know.

That's a great idea & I wish I'd thought of that - instead held off on my entire app being submitted until I had everything ready, then had to wait for verification :bang: I submitted really late in the cycle (after the new year actually) & still received an interview invite so anything is possible, but my MCAT was higher than yours so the earlier you apply, obviously the better. A score of ~500 is below the accepted averages for DO schools but people can get in with that if the other components of your application compensate (better GPA, extracurrics, something that makes you stand out to adcom, etc.)

Hopefully (fingers crossed for you) 🙂

Your application will get verified without an MCAT score. All they need to verify is your transcript and the courses and grades you have listed, but school will not review your app until an MCAT score is submitted.

Your information will still be available. My info from 2 years ago were still available when I was applying last year.

Do you need LORs to submit and get verified?

No, all they need is for you to submit (mail out) your transcripts and list your courses/grades correctly. All they will be verifying is that the same info on your transcripts are the same as the info you listed.
