Piggybacking to ask: if we are reapplying and carry over our old application materials in AACOMAS, do we have to resend transcripts from every school or just schools with (new) additional coursework?

Edit: no need to send all transcripts! Only those with additional coursework as per aacomas!

best of luck to you all this cycle!

Did you call for this information? Or is it on their website?

Would it be weird to ask what people wrote their personal statements about? I wrote a wicked awesome one for last year when I was in my masters program, but now I've graduated and I'm just not sure what to write about.

Any news about secondaries yet? On NOVA's website, they say that the secondary was available 6/1/2018. Do some schools have their secondaries available on their website? I feel like I'm missing something here or my primary is missing something...

Edit: I just got on the NOVA website and I think I found the secondary on their website

Submitted yesterday. Verified today!

Is AACOMAS verification faster than AMCAS? Does that mean if I submit my app early July, it will be verified in like a week as opposed to a month for AMCAS?

No idea honestly. Maybe because the DO cycle is longer, the verification process is shorter as not as many people are submitting at the same time?

Seemed about the same to me honestly. My AMCAS never took a month

Thats great because im waiting for my transcripts to be received my AMCAS, hopefully i can submit no later than 2 weeks from now

Anyone know when schools typically start sending secondaries after June 15th?

So I submitted my application a few days ago and I'm already verified. I'm still pending my committee letter though. Do you guys know when schools start looking at the LORs? Do you think it's before or after you submit secondaries?

I submitted Thursday and woke up verified this morning. That was so much faster than I had anticipated. I’m also waiting on my committee letter and my DO letter but everything else is good to go.

It varies by school. If you look at previous threads you can get an idea. For reference, CCOM started sending their secondaries June 16th. KCU was around mid July. I think that's a good timeline to follow for most schools if you are verified by the first day they're available to schools. However, some schools take longer so don't freak out if it's not on those exact dates. After all, they're looking at thousands of applications.

How do they send the secondaries out? Through email? Or do I need to check their websites?

From what I've heard and read, it is through email. Make sure you check all folders, because some people report it going to their junk folder. After the email, I *think* it will prompt you to set up an account through a portal where you will pay your fee and upload your secondary essays. That is where you will see if you are complete, and I believe where you select interview dates, etc. Don't hold me to it because I'm also new to this process this year. I have some insight because I have some great mentors, and have spent WAY too much time surfing SDN. I may or may not have a list in my phone that has dates that secondary apps were sent and dates of first interview invites....

Just submitted last night! AHHHHH! From what I understand, you become verified in (usually) 2 weeks and DO schools start pulling applications this week and next to begin sending out secondaries! Good Luck to everyone.

This early in the game it’s probably less than that to get verified! I submitted on a Friday, sent my last transcript on a Saturday and was verified at 6 am the following Monday, lol.

As far as reviewing, fellow SDNer told me the 15th! It’s almost heeeeeeerrrreeee!

I see your phone list and raise you an excel sheet from the past two years.

Hahaha. Nothing like a mildly unhealthy dose of SDN neuroticism. While I was studying for the MCAT, and waiting for my score, I checked that spreadsheet every single night. It gave me some comfort. It was also surprisingly accurate. So there's that.

Hey everyone. I have had my transcript verified with one school, my burner one or however they word it on here, is it smart to go ahead add the other schools I plan on applying to? My MCAT score won't come for another two weeks but should I go ahead and apply to the other programs now or wait until my MCAT comes in? Thanks in advance!

the whole idea is to wait on your MCAT in case you didn't hit the number you need/want.

For AACOMAS, we can do the whole “submit to a throwaway school” like AMCAS, right? I wont get my MCAT til July 3

Yes. You can also look up secondary essay prompts from last year at schools to which you plan to apply. Having these at least started before your score comes back will be helpful.

I am already verified! 36 hours later. YAY!
And oh my goodness, THAT'S CRAZY! I left myself no time to breathe lol

What’s the recommended realistic turnaround time for secondaries? I haven’t started yet because I’ve been working on my primary for AMCAS.

But think about how much time you’ll have to breathe and stress when you’re all done with secondaries!

I see your excel sheet and raise you a flash drive that I keep on my person while at work with secondary essays that I have prewritten and a laptop in my car, with a mobile hotspot on my phone, so that I may submit as soon as a I receive the secondary. The application cycle neuroticism is real. Haha

I’ll concede, but it’s only cause I lost my flash drive on vacation. I’m sure it will be worth it in the end. And let’s hope that end is soon!
