Greetings everyone,
So I want to explain my situation and get some opinions/ advice. I got caught drinking in a friends dorm and was caught streaming movies illegally my freshman year and had to take an alcohol class and was put on disciplinary probation while I was taking the class for the alcohol issue and had to write a paper and do community service for the streaming movies incident. I disclosed the information on my centralized application but had honestly forgotten all about the probation part because it was so long ago and nothing really came of it or negatively affected me at the time and was so worried about me getting potentially kicked out of school or my parents finding out about it that I think I just completely fazed it through my mind, so my explanation includes me disclosing I was caught drinking and streaming movies in the dorm and its consequences but didn't have the part about me being put on probation for that small period. How big of an issue is this? Any help would be appreciated because I am torn on what to do

Not an issue at all, the fact you were on disciplinary probation is probably a given considering the circumstances. Schools are more interested in knowing the trouble you got into than the specific disciplinary actions of the school.

Alright thanks for your input. It's not like i chose to not include the information at all (which im sure a lot of people do) its just this small minute detail that I generally forgot about but i didn't want the schools to think I was lying to them by any means. If a secondary app asks should I include it? I just ask because a friend of mine applying to med school told me secondary apps sometimes include sections where you can explain things. Thanks!

You could mention it in a secondary, but it's a pretty insignificant piece of information. It's inclusion or exclusion isn't really important either way, it's just a tiny part of your school's internal punishment process.

Okay thanks for your time. It just I wouldnt want me to get an acceptance and a school be like "well you didnt mention that so we are taking away your acceptance..." But I figure it would be off much more extremity if someone completely left off an issue or scenario rather than that small detail. but thanks again

@FeralisExtremum is right. some schools wouldn't care all that much that you drank. others might even suspend you. so the consequence in this case is not as important as what you did. you were truthful. you can maybe give more details if they ask you at interview. but I would not even mention probation.
