Is there a chart that outlines how we convert from our % grades to the 4.0 scale, being from Canada as well, im having a hard time doing this.
Well it looks like your from Canada, 89 on your transcript from your uni would be an A, and an A would change to a 4.0 from AADSAS.
If your 89 is from a US university then ya it would be a B.
I'm from Quebec so those number grades are from the CEGEP system. I did uni at McGill and a B is 70-74. Obviously there's a huge difference here...a lot of the grades that would be considered a solid A everywhere else (>85=4) shoot down to a 3.0.
It's pretty hard to accept so I just want to make sure this is really the case.
So using the OSMAS scale shouldn't the 89 be converted to a 3.9?
I don't think you can consider CEGEP 'University-level'.
Your GPA should be calculated based on your McGill marks.
You can call up the AADSAS and confirm.
My transcript shows only grades in %. Do i still have to report the letter grade because on the application it says "input grade exactly as shown on transcript". (if we do report the letter, im guessing we dont use +/- if no letters are reported on our transcript?)
Also, where it asks for "credits" is that how many units the course was worth, ie. 0.50 for full and 0.25 for lab (at my school) or is that the 4.33 scale you were referring to?
They don't even know what CEGEP is, which is really surprising.
Based on another response, I apparently need to convert my grades from CEGEP using the OMSAS table. I looked at the table and don't really understand how to use it since no CEGEPs are listed on it. Do you have insight on how to use it?
What school did you go to?
Waterloo.
Because CEGEP is high school and not a University.
Your CEGEP marks will not be used to calculate your GPA.
Your Mcgill marks will be used. That table is only good for Universities.
Call AADSAS to confirm the whole CEGEP thing.
I'm from UWO and on the back of my transcript there is a % to letter conversion, where 80-89 is considered A
