I copy/paste it in from Word, click save, leave the page and see that the box next to the personal statement is blank (not orange). Anyone know what's happening? I don't want to e-submit it without a personal statement because of a glitch.

Plus, my indents for the beginnings of paragraphs aren't coming through...I could hit space a few times for each one, but that adds characters and I'm already 23 characters over (literally 🙂 ) How do I fix that?

First off, if it's ever over the character limit it won't save, and there's nothing you can do but shorten it to under the limit.

Second, you do not need indentation/spaces, they will auto-format for you (I believe it says this somewhere). What I did, and what I've heard others do, is put a simple space between paragraphs.

imagine my horror when i finished my personal statement, then copied and pasted it into the box. it was perfect... except i found out it was indeed 4500 characters, not 4500 words. Luckily I was only at 1134 words, but oh the joys of 7,001 characters. am currently cutting it down :/

If you're over, you're over. It won't save it. Even if it's by one character. It's like trying to close a door on an overly stuffed closet. It won't close. Cut it down. Don't worry about indents and all that jazz. If you're really worried, put spaces between paragraphs.

Also, make sure to copy and paste your PS to a text file/notepad or something (not word document) - it'll get rid of any pretty formatting stuff word may have auto changed things to - which AADSAS won't accept. So c/p to a text file, then c/p that to AADSAS
