postmenopausal women receiving estrogen and progesterone therapy will most likely experience which of the following side effects?

a- breast tissue atrophy
b- vaginal tissue will dry out
c-periodic menstration continues
d- lactation will be induced

I chose D but answer is C.

The reason I don't think C is right is because there isn't anything in the passage that says using these therapies by controlling dosages (like birth control pills). If you give it to them so that their endometrium builds up and then take it away so that it sloughs up, yes that would induce menstration but I still think D is the better answer. A constant dosage of estrogen and progesterone will induce lactation, no? Any insights?

Oxytocin induces lactation (release of milk, prolactin does milk production).

Estrogen/Progesterone are menstruation related. I'd pick that one.

I'd have to agree with Jepstein for the exact same reasons (definitions of the hormone functions). I don't remember the passage, but regardless, this is a content question.

Poor answer but I would not chose D, as mentioned before oxytocin would be needed for that. If you cross out the rest, C is the only answer which COULD stand. You are right, however, it's the reduction in estrogen supply which bring about menstration
