AAMC 7 Questions 9

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Would someone please do this one for me step by step? I don't understand how they go those numbers in the explanaiton and how they related them.

Thanks in advance

The passage does state that f is roughly equal to 9n^(1/2)

The question states that it is n=10^18.

This gives 9(10^18)^(1/2)

Take the square root of 10^18 (to the 1/2 power = square root). If you are working with exponents, then the square root of 10^18 is 10^9 (it is like dividing the exponent by two). Lastly, multiply by 9 to get 9 * 10^9.

it's just a plug and chug formula given in the passage Frequency = 9n^(1/2) where n is equal to density. So they gave us density as 1 X 10^18. if you plug that in then you take the sq root of 1X10^18 which is 1 X 10^9 then just multiply by 9 = 9X10^9

Edit: I guess i was too slow..lol

Actually your explanation is what worked for me 🙂 but thanks also to dsoz!
