AAMC #8 Need help with verbal main idea

Does anyone else have trouble with understanding passage 6? I don't know if I'm just tired or burnt out, but I'm having trouble grasping the author's argument.

If anyone can help me decipher this passage, send me a PM or something. Would definitely appreciate it.

Good god that passage was incredible. I saved that one for last and lucky had about 12 minutes for it, and it took me the entire time.

Most if not every verbal has "that one" passage that will kick your a**. To be honest I still couldn't tell you entirely what it was about.
