Attached is the question with the figure. Why is the answer not D? Wouldn't adding a solid increase it rather than decrease it? How did you go about solving this question? The AAMC explanation does not make much sense to me. TIA

So you are suggesting that adding more mass and more inertia to a system should make it accelerate faster? Like if I welded a 500lb manhole cover to my bicycle's rear wheel, the bicycle should suddenly become much easier to get up to speed???

I don't really get the question - the second image is clipped and there is some talk about current and magnetic fields. You may want to take a screenshot from the whole thing.
