How many weeks does it take to be verified if you apply once apps open? And after being verified, if you send out more applications to other schools, do they receive them right away?

Thanks!

Time for verification depends on when you submit your app. Generally, the verification time as a function of time within the season is a curve that peaks at July/August. I don't know if they receive them right away, but AMCAS is very prompt at updating everything so I'd assume so. But when the school will actually review your app depends on the school itself.

So if you are already verified, and send applications to more schools mid-July, are you in a solid position to be reviewed as those who submitted applications to those schools early June but had to be verified first?

This verification and timing process really confuses me...

The schools don't get your application until it's verified.

Look, stop making this harder than it has to be. just apply as early as possible. Pre write secondaries. Get your letters in order. Stop trying to figure out what "position" you're in. Even if you apply early, schools may wait to look at your app. Overall, the earlier the better. Just leave it at that.

Think of it this way. Your application goes no where until it is verified. Verification is to ensure that what you have reported is indeed true (grades, etc.) After it is verified, it gets released to the schools you designated (if it is on or after June 30th, the day applications start being released to schools. If it is before then, your application will be held and released to the schools on June 30th.) After that you can add schools to heart's content, and your application will be sent to them within a day. If you submit your AMCAS for verification in early June, it takes usually a couple of days to be verified. Submit late June through July, it takes up to 4 weeks (I submitted June 30th and it took me a month to get verified. Do not do this. Submit early June).

Just to add qualification to that, submit a quality, well-written, coherent, concise and compelling primary and secondaries. You need to good before you worry about being early. Waiting a week or two or four to polish your application will have no impact on your admissions chances.

Ok, so now for me to be honest, the reason I ask is this. I have been dealing with a medical issue for over a year now that has been causing some pretty sever pain. I am talking 9 on the pain scale. I have kept on delaying the MCAT hoping my medical team would find an answer to my problems but they have not. However, things are beginning to look hopeful now and I am getting the therapeutic intervention to keep the pain at bay. However, my doc suggests that maybe taking the MCAT June 16/17 would not be a bad idea. It buys them time and buys me time when the pain impedes me from studying. I am just worried that is too late, so I thought of this idea of submitting for verification once they open and applying to the rest of the schools once I get the score.

I am currently scheduled for may 19th. Honestly though, part of me says **** it, I do now want to allow this issue take control of my life, future and dreams any longer. It is the reason I have not taken the MCAT yet and the reason I did not apply to medical school last year! Part of me just says take it and the 19th and wish for the best.

Are you able to send transcripts from college to AAMC prior to June?

1) You take the MCAT when ready
2) You need a GOOD MCAT; an early bad one will just get you rejected early
3) You need a GOOD Primary Application a bad early
4) You can submit your primary without an MCAT score; you should do that with a SINGLE School, either a reach school that you will unlikely get unless your MCAT is stellar or a throwaway school that doesnt matter. That way your application gets verified
5) you focus on MCAT prior to exam, then focus on primary
6) once you get your score you can add more schools and get transmitted immediately
7) you can also start pre-writing secondaries after you take MCAT

Thank you! That break down really helped. How long are secondaries typically ?
