I am looking at the solution to the problem and don't understand why they put 5x10-2 as the area. If the units are in squared cm then it should be 5x10-4 squared meters to convert. What am I missing??

Question: Compressive strength of a bone is 2.0e8N/m2. What mass, supported by the bone would cause 1% change in length of a 5cm2 cross sectional area?

Thanks for the help!

I figured it out! sorry. They did convert it when solving. They just didn't place the converted number in the solution.
