i just submitted my application less than a week ago, how long does it take for it to be available to see it on the "check application status" as of right now i tried to get a username and password and they said my email doesnt exist in their system. just wondering if they need more time to process or what. thanks

AACOMAS just got FLOODED with applications because of August MCAT takers, so their respose times are going to be bogged down for probably the next couple of weeks. You're probably looking at about 4 weeks (the end of November) before they submit to schools, another 2 weeks for secondaries (Mid-December) and your first interview, if you get one, probably not until February. Yikes. At that point, you're probably interviewing for a low-waitlist spot.

Sorry I couldn't be more optimistic, but at this point, even good stats are fighting the clock.

it takes 5 business days to appear on the "check application status" and for me it took 2 weeks to mail to my one school.

I submitted mine on a sunday and it wouldnt let me login until thursday. It took a total of 2 weeks to process.

i remember it taking several days before i could use the "check application status". i submitted mine on 10/11 and the applications were mailed out on 10/26.

Do I have to send LOR to aacomas? I know I have to send them transcripts, and I'm in the process of doing that right now. Anything else I need to do?

send MCAT scores!

you dont have to send LORs to AACOMAS.. just to the schools themselves

1. send transcripts to AACOMAS
2. send LORs directly to admissions office of each school.
3. look at the secondaries thread and start working on them.
3. verify all transcripts sent to AACOMAS
4. verify LORs
5. complete secondaries when school send them to you.
6. resend anything that seems to be "lost in the mail"

Oh, ok I don't need to wait on the secondaries before I start LOR??
I go ahead and do them on my own through my school and then have then sent in? Ok, got ya!

after submitting my applicaton last weekend I still can't access the "check the status" on the website. How long does it take? When I ask for my password and put in my email it says my email doesnt exist in their database. I hope they hurry up, i'm gettin worried.

sorry. prepare the secondaries now and send them in when you receive the secondaries from the schools.

LORs sent now

AACOMAS status check was not available to me for about 7 days. you can always call them and ask

how do i prepare secondaries now? what is on them? what do they ask you?

questions on the secondaries listed there. good luck.

all you need to do now is look over the questions and then use whatever writing process you feel comfortable with in writing essays. the secondaries I completed were online so i just cut and paste my work and paper secondaries I printed out my work and attached them to the secondary.

anything from pikeville?

lewsiburg-wv?

Dochall22,

I submitted my AACOMAS application about two weeks ago, and it shows that everything is "pending". I know that my transcript arrived about a week ago, but since AACOMAS is flooded right now, I will give it a few more weeks to process. I'd suggest that you do the same. If another week goes by and you still have nothing, then I would call. Many people are in the same boat as you right now. A waiting process. *sighs*

I just wish I had decided to apply to DO school sooner. I applied to MD, then decided to apply to DO later on....now I'm paying the price. Blah.

prob about 2 weeks...but stay on top of things. there can be major delays outside of your control that you can head off. for instance, last year my undergrad college sent 2 transcripts to AAMC instead of one to them and one to AACOMAS. it wasted about 2.3 weeks and it wasn't my fault!

I patiently waited 1 month for AACOMAS to receive one of my transcripts. I had to resend. Definitely be patient but don't be a suckah like me!

I was an august mcatter - I think it took a couple weeks.

I have already submitted my aacom app, and my transcripts are listed as received with the dates. Under the MCAT link, my scores are there, but there is no date to say that they have been received. I submitted them through the MCAT Thx website...but wanted to be sure that they were received (I expected to be asked to pay for them to be sent, but wasn't). I'm still pending to be sent to schools, and wanted to be sure this wasn't because of a wait on my MCAT scores. Does anyone know about this? Thanks!!

If you mcat scores show up on the status page, that means that they have received official scores from aamc. I submitted my application on 10/20 and it was verified yesterday (i called in ) and my apps will be mailed out on thursday. I have all my secondaries done, and my LOR's already sent in so as soon as i get them, i'm gonna send them out the same day. My applications should be complete by the end of november i'm thinking...

Thanks docmd! So if you are already sending LORs in, there doesn't have to be a cover letter or anything? My school has a pre-med committee, for instance, so do I just ask them to go ahead and send my rec in to the schools I am applying to? I know with one school I applied to (MD) there was a cover letter where you had sign a waiver for the right to read the letter. Thanks!

just send the LORs now. The schools I applied to give you the waivers and secondaries at the same time. Then you send in the waivers and secondaries at the same time.
