I'm sure we are all familiar with the degree creep that many professions are experiencing, including CRNA's, so is it inevitable that AA's will eventually become a doctorate degree as well?

Probably.

MDs have been late in this regard. We should "creep up" our degree to YMD- Your Majesty Doctor. It will happen one of this days.

It'll only take time...that's why I'm a little skeptical about them being a viable alternative to the CRNA.

CRNAs = board of 'nursing' = back stabbing
('nursing' being whatever the heck they can get away with)
AA = board of medicine = creep much more difficult

So how does the medical side combat the CRNA's degree creep when presenting the AA as a suitable replacement for the CRNA's?

Crap. I told my wife that the master's degree AA program would absolutely be my last degree...

The medical side would have to show the degree creep for what it is, and demonstrate that a fake doctorate does not add anything over the standard Master's degree. The fact that AAs don't have a doctorate isn't a real issue, though the AANA may try to make it one a few years down the road.

Are PAs having problems with degree creep? The only DScPA program that I know of is in the Army, for EM PAs. From what I've been told, that degree program was largely created to deal with promotion issues in the Army (higher degrees are expected for higher-ranking officers), and the need for more EM providers (that can function independantly) downrange.

I thought our new degree was the LMFAO. :jealous of NOY:

I think we all should include this on our signature as a parody to how nurses list every degree they have, dating back to kindergarten.

I'm changing mine to reflect the cherished LMFAO degree now.

I encourage ALL SDN ANESTHESIA GROUPIES TO SHOW YOUR LMFAO DEGREE!!!!

I'm a registered member of the AMA, ASA, SPA, & SCA. Maybe I should list groups I'm registered with after my name?
Wow! Registered! You mean you are on a list in a file cabinet somewhere! You'd better put an R in your title for the rest of your life!

Tried that in my profile line but I couldn't fit anymore than what I already have.

Sigh.
