will someone please give me an idea of what it means for a curve to shift to the left..(or right) like it BP or oxygen absorbtion...thnx
Shift to the right means a decrease in oxygen affinity. Hemoglobin wants to release oxygen because of such conditions as high temperature, low pH, high C02.
Shift to left is increase in oxygen affinity. Hemoglobin wants to bind to oxygen because of all opposite of the conditions listed above.
wouldn't the
X axis= partial pressure of O2
Y axis= percent saturation with O2
?
