What is the lowest pH you have seen anyone survive (regardless of functional status)? What is the lowest you have seen anyone survive and still be functional?

I've seen 6.9's taken basically right after a seizure with lactic acids > 20 obviously survive. It has nothing to do with them being very sick, just acidotic for that short period of time. Scared the bejeezus out of me until I realized the RT got it literally mid-jerk.

kids in the PICU (at least while i was there) were commonly in the 6.9's and they usually always recovered fine.

DKA yesterday at 7.02 and a BS initially of 832...doing well today

Saw a DKA in the unit at 6.82 with a bicarb of zero. Still, no bicarb given...I learned a lot that day
