Thanks to everyone who replied to my previous post.

After spending many, many hours researching programs and drawing a blank I would like to ask y'all for your opinion on programs.

A little back ground info first: I think I am fairly competitive (AOA, good grades, etc.) and am open to new places--meaning I don't really know where I want to live other than no massive winters or no social life. A good education is a must & a good reputation would be nice too but time outside of work for a family life is extremely important to me. I have not decided what types of fellowships I would like to do.

help?

Feel free to pm me too!

Thanks!

Rule #1:

Ask the 3rd and 4th years at the programs you are considering about where they got fellowships and job offers.

That is about the only thing you need to pay attention to. In this day and age, if you go into Pathology, you should go DermPath or bust. The rest of the field has been sabotaged. Even if you get a good job, you will be looking over your shoulder your entire career with DermPath as the possible exception. The stress is not worth it.

Reread this every day for the next 5 years and you will thank me then.

I disagree about "dermpath or bust" but the fellowship comment is a good one.

A lot of dermpath is being bought out by national labs - do you really think it's limited to GI and GU? It seems almost more common in dermpath to me at times. Plus, with the amount of dermpath fellowships that are popping up in the past few years, dermpath is not going to be a guaranteed ticket to anything in the future.
