I just took the first test from the CDP as a diagnostic test. I ended with 21 and was barely able to finish in time. I had 1 minute left before the time was up. After reviewing the whole score analysis turns out I'm having a bit of trouble with the keyhole, angle, and cube questions. For the cube question, I feel like as long as I strengthen my stamina and pay attention little more I'll be able to easily improve.

However, I find that sometimes it is little tough to do the angle questions when they are only less than 5 degrees difference from one to another. Is there a specific strategy to sort out the angles that are similar to each other? (it is also harder when those two similar angles are oriented differently; the angles pointing at different directions)

Next, as for the keyhole question, there were very obscure questions that I thought were pretty much impossible to tell the exact shape based on the question given by the CDP. Example would be the TEST 1: Question 4. How would you be able to tell the difference between B and E? Same goes to Question 9, When I see the explanation, one of the side just magically turns into something bigger than how it was given from the question. I chose E but the answer was C. I'm giving the questions just incase you guys might have CDP as well.

Let me know if you guys know some foolproof strategy of doing the keyhole and the angle test! much would be appreciated!! 🙂

I usually eye keyholes by using the line of symmetry method. The real PAT is no where near as hard as CDP. CDP seems a bit overkill and I find it a waste of time to go through those ridiculous keyhole folds.

For those tough angle questions just use the follow the slope strategy for acute angles or laptop strategy for obtuse angles. For the acute angles you're just trying to find which angle is the safest to go down on if you were biking down, and for obtuse angles you're just picturing which "laptop" is opened the largest. It sounds really simple but apparently it works for many.

If you're getting 21 in CDP I think you will be perfectly fine for DAT.

21 on your first try? wow....that's really good. I did horribblllyy on my first try, i'm too embarrassed to even say. I guess these things don't come naturally to me. I think you will be fine, if you got a 21 on your first test. 🙂

But for angles, I just figured out looking farther away helps me see angles better. I tried looking at it really close, but i ended up getting confused. But I hear for some ppl that works better for them. So just try and see what works for you. gluck

hey bennijai...
could u explain the "line of symmetry" method for keyholes?? theyre giving me such a hard time too!!
