I had a question regarding the application process. So after I apply through the general podiatric application service, will they send me a secondary application...then an interview, or do i need to send in only the primary general application and then an interview if they like me?. Also I was wondering if Scholl Podiatric school requires a recommendation from a DPM. I know on their site it does not say anything about that, but maybe for the secondary they do if they require secondaries? Some who has applied to Scholl please explain.

The online AACPM app gets sent to all of the schools that you indicate, and you need to release your MCAT scores to AACPM also. You send transcripts and LORs to the individual schools. As you've seen, different programs have different requirements for the LORs; some want 3, some want 2, some want a health advisory panel letter, some want a DPM letter, etc. You have to contact the school(s) of interest to see exactly what they want, but it's always a good idea to shadow a DPM and get a LOR from him/her because that helps you learn about podiatry and shows the school that you are interested.

There are no secondary apps that I'm aware of. If the school(s) like your AACPM app and LORs, they will invite you out for an interview. The interviews are usually low pressure situations just to acquaint you with the campus and make sure you're a friendly and motivated person, and being invited is typically a good indication that you will be accepted. The pod schools don't generally use the interviews for screening and only accept 1 of 5 interviewees or anything like that; they know the airfare, hotel, etc costs a lot of $ and usually won't invite someone who has a paper app quality significantly below their typical standards or other applicants for that year.

Hey, do you think schools would mind if i sent in my 2-3 letters of rec and transcripts before we are able to access the application part on the first week of September? I have most of that ready now. I was thinking of sending all of that to 2 or 3 schools right now.

Your best bet is to contact the schools directly and see what they say.

If you haven't even applied because the AACPM app service isn't available yet, then the schools don't have a file folder for you, and it'd be a bit ambiguous if they got your LORs in the mail. 😕

not sure about that
some schools have a statement that say something like this though:

"Arrange with your preprofessional advisory committee to have an evaluation sent directly to the CPMS Admissions Office. No other letters are required, and you should not hesitate to have references sent ahead of your application. Materials will be kept on file for you."
http://www.dmu.edu/cpms/admissions/apply/

this is from DMU, I wonder if that means it's ok to send it before the application is open on AACPM...

also I'm sure people who finish there application online after they send out there letters of rec and transcripts at or around the same time, and the letters of rec or transcript get there a few days before the online one... i doubt they throw them out

When in doubt call or email the admissions staff. It does not look bad to be interested and eager.

Exactly^

That is what I was getting at... if you haven't submitted the AACPM app yet, at least call the school so they know to start a flie folder and expect your LORs or transcripts. Otherwise, they might be a tad confused if they get documents for an unknown student.

thanks for the help

i shot an email at DMU, the other day, the lady who responds to them is very good at getting back to me when I ask questions 👍, so ill just wait 🙂
