I asked a previous biology Professor of mine if she would be willing to write an LOR, she said yes but also asked me to write her an email on what an LOR to medical schools needs to contain.

After searching for a bit, I found out my university is supporting Interfolio. So I signed up. Question is, if I send an "emailed request" from Interfolio, will it attach any suggestions/how-tos on writing an LOR? Only reason I ask is because of this very vague statement at the bottom of the form before I hit submit:

"Fulfillment instructions on how to complete this request will appear under your message."

  1. What is that about? Is this just a standard instruction on how to upload to my Interfolio account, and a notification that I waived my right to view the LOR?
  2. Should I still send a separate email detailing what our university recommends Professors to write in a LOR?
  3. What do people typically give Professors when asking for an LOR? Things like transcript, resume, short/long term goals I assume, but anything else?

No, you'll need to provide your own instruction to your professor, either through the custom message box that can accompany your invitation email from Interfolio, or a separate email. You can find good info about what a medical school LOR should look like via a google search, but to be honest, if I asked a biology prof to write a LOR for my medical school application and they replied with "WTF should one of those things say??" I would find another letter writer.
