About the interview

When you first come in to the room with your interviewer and shake his or her hand do you refer to them as Doctor or Sir and Ma'am. I ask this because it does not have to a be a doctor as your interviewer...

i dont think i really refer to them by name unless when i'm talking about them with another interviewer or something (common at mstp interviews). bad thing about it i totally dont remember their names though

Thanks for the input, just trying not to screw up since I only have 1 interview and I know some professors, let alone doctors that want to be called doctors or they think you are degrading them.

Just say "Hello" or "Hi."

The way it usually works is, they'll introduce themselves first "Hi, I'm Dr. _____" then you say "Nice to meet you. I'm yummytummy." At the end of the interview, you can refer to them as whatever they introduced themselves as.

If you have to introduce yourself first, no biggie. "Hi, my name is yummytummy." Then they'll introduce themselves.

Just because you may know their name already doesn't mean you won't go through the whole introduction thing.
