Who has taken the TOEFL Internet-based Testing (iBT) recently? Can we still take the computer-based one? I am not so sure how to prepare it. Is the iBT difficult?

the cbt is not available now in most countries and definitely not in the US.the ibt is not very hard.they just have a speaking section included.i took it in mar.

Hi.........
there r many of us who are preparing for IB TOEFL ,so it would be helpful if people post their experience and tips abt the IBT.
Please guide abt...
-is it really difficult?
-are there sites which let us take free or paid mock tests.
-your experience abt the new speaking section.
-suggestions for prepration.
and all the stuff u think we shd know.
Thanks in advance.

the toefl site lets u take a free test.

hi guys,
for those who are prep for ibt toefl.
ibt is not as easy as cbt.
before giving ibt make sure that u all will keep in mind about minimum reqirements for universities. as u all know toefl ibt has four sections
R,L,S andW
RC is very difficult as the new format resembles the GRE READING.
even one should be good at vocabulary.
either u can get 3 pasages or 5 passages which is timed and mAy get 10-13 questions per passage.
listening is easy as u can write down .
speaking has three parts one is independent
integrated(Read passage and listen to conv)
third ONLY listening.
writing u have two sections -iintegrated(read and listten to conv)
independent
tips to improve reading
1)go directly to questions donot waste ur time on reading the passage as the passages are very long more than 700 words.
2)be thorough with the vocabulary as it not easy like cbt
3)donot spend more than 30 sec for each questions

Coming to speaking try to pratice speaking on general topic on eassy topics.try speaking with microphone at home.speak clearly and slowly.try to give the intro and conclusion statement.for integrated try to spend lesstime on reading and concentated on listening while spaeking

for writing integrated please try compare and contrast .use more transitive words.try get the list of eassy topics which is posted on ets web site.

Hi,

There is one more difficult section in IBT, that is we have to type the essay,

no more writting in papers, so we have to practice it and increase the speed.

if u really want to buy some books ,try to buy longmann prep course.
kaplan is good for reading and four full lenght pratice test.

Hey all of you taking the iBT, I gave it this feb.Since I have given no other version-I do not think I can compare the difficulty levels. Those worried about timing , I strongly recommend that you give the sample test that they provide when you sign up for the exam. Please be sure to time yourself on that. When you do that they give you a feedback about your performance which is very helpful and tell you where and what changes you could make. The test is an accurate reflection of what you may expect in terms of quality of passages as well as the topics.
Also the timing for the different sections.Time yourself in such a fashion that your speaking section does not coincide with somebody else's.It is slightly disturbing to hear others while deciding what you want to say.Make sure you have a "disturbance free terminal "
About the listening-just do concentrate on what is being said and try noting it down too.
In the writing do not use big words and be yourself. If the topic demands throw in a personal experience. If they ask you for an opinion make sure you do not forget to mention if you are for/against it.Also there is one other thing to remember in the passages they are asking about the opinion expressed in the passage. The examinee's opinion needs to be expressed only in the writing section.
with the amount on this site and the toefl site -I think you guys should be well set!
Wishing you all -the very best!
