Any comments of study materials for absite?

There used to be a book called Absite Killer that I'd heard was an awesome study guide, but it is no longer in print. There are other books out there that purport to be as good, but I guess that remains to be seen. Check out Barnes & Noble website and search for Absite.

Hey the same I wanted to know...
I heard that Surgical Review (from University of Penn) is very helpful, also there are some reviews from University of Oklahoma, but I did not find it.
Anybosy knows more?? Please let us know

found this on GSresident's blog site. It's the website of the guy who wrote the book that you guys are looking to buy. Maybe he still has some laying around in a box somewhere with your name on them. 😀 Good luck!

If my memory serves me correct, Michigan State University came up with the original ABSITE Killer book. If you google MSU General Surgery, there should be a link to purchase the book.

You're right. Here is the link: http://web2.chm.msu.edu/Surgery/CHM_ClinicalSurgery.htm

Click on the Left side of the page for the ABSITE info. They have the review manuel and some Practice exams with answers

Hi there,
ABSITE Killer and the Michigan Review are totally different books. I have both of them. ABSITE Killer isn't being published anymore. Michigan publishes every year. The best ABSITE book is "The ABSITE Review" by Steve Fiser, M.D. He is a UVA grad now Cardiothoracic Fellow at Mass General who scored several perfect ABSITEs. Great book and everything that you need.
njbmd 🙂

I have both these books. good thing . Hey 50% of absite is basic science so you should be ok perusing a guyton etc or some tig more sharper for test reaons. So the absite is the 1st or 2nd of jan?

The AbSite is the last Saturday in January (I think that's the 29th this year). I wouldn't use a Guyton - its not surgically oriented per se and is much too dense for review purposes. ABSITE Killer is a great night before read, many use Rush (although I think the questions are harder than the real thing), Surgical Recall, or any other myriad of review books (ie, like the Michigan review).

That was the name of the book I was trying to think of when I first replied. Thanks nj. I have heard that it is tops the list from the residents here.

Any GS programs out there that are notorious for giving you the boot if you don't get a certain score on the ABSITE??
