Is early antibiotic treatment beneficial in acute pyelonephritis?

As in prevention of recurrence, prevention of major complications etc?

Yes it is, if the patient does not meet admision criteria i.e no fever greater than 102, no chills, no nasuea or vommiting early abx (quinolones is my treatment choice unless their is a contraindication) can prevent further damage.
