I need your advice..

some of you read a previous message from me a few days ago...

[..Didn't really know what I wanted from college, was immature, first in family to attend college, personal and family problems turned into an ugly outcome. Went to college off and on, right now I am 5 classes away from obtaining my B. S. in Public Health.

The Problem? Close to 40 W's from times where I had to drop classes because of family/personal/financial issues. GPA: 2.6 and as mentioned, 6 classes away from graduating with my B. S. in Public Health...
]

Now, currently I have a lot of credits, ~190-210 , not too sure.

For the past 2 semesters I have done real well, ~3.97 GPA, so this summer I wanted to take a few classes were I completely did bad years ago and could have done much better:

General Psych. General Soc. are 2 of those classes where I received C's back then, but I know I can get A's now that I am more mature and things are better.

My question is: Should I bother taking these classes, getting the A's since I have so many credits already? There are no other classes I can really take in the summer, but I wanted to take something to show the upward continuous trend with good grades.

Since there is no way I can erase my academic record, I thought of it as starting over again 2 semesters ago and even though I took those classes already, getting As on them will show the other side of me, with the other good grades.

What would you advice?

I would only retake classes that you have D's or F's in. If you have the time/credit hours to kill, then go ahead and retake some of the easier classes that you got C's in. It certainly won't hurt you.

Be prepared to apply DO. With a 2.6, I'd say your chances at an MD program are slim at best. Add 40 W's to that, and you're just this side of impossible. Retake any classes you got D's or F's in, rock the MCAT, and apply DO and maybe to some SMPs.
