Academic Enrichment/Pre-Dental Day

I have the opportunity to attend a predental day at a local dental school that isn’t on my school list for next cycle and admission costs 75 dollars. Considering I’ve done nothing dental related besides shadowing and my academic enrichment section is completely empty, would this be a worthy investment, or are these events more of a scam?

See what workshops/activities are scheduled. These might yield good stories or experiences that'll be useful for interviews later on. Also, yes you can put this event on your dental app

Wouldn’t consider A predental day at a dental school a exam. They are taking time out of their schedules to run it.

why would it be a scam?

Sorry, scam wasn't exactly the best word choice. I was trying to refer to how there are "honor societies" that make you pay 100 dollars to join under the guise of "being mentored to become a leader" if that makes sense. Based on other responses though this doesn't seem to be the case

Any particular type of workshop in mind when you say that? It looks like they mostly offer DAT guidance (already taken, so useless to me), personal statement workshopping + interviewing (seems useful), and a waxing workshop (never done before, but sure I guess it could be handy). Aside from application guidance, not sure if this really gives you a good view into life in dschool, although I'm sure school predental days differ

Waxing could be useful, and might even let you know if you like dentistry after all 😉

It'd be useful. I have done one at Penn and it was tremendously valuable to see what dental students do on a daily basis. Also you can talk about it on your application and personal statement.

def useful. I even wrote about it in my personal statement because the school that hosted the enrichment program was my first choice. I was accepted to that school. 🙂
