Ok, but both of you have failed to answer my question. What should I do? I would love to explain my situation that semester but I don't know how I go about doing that. If someone could please give some insightful opinions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
I'm going to give you my best advice, because I know what kind of effect a bad semester which pulls down grades can have because of certain mishaps.
You forgot to include your mishap in your application. I think it is important to include this, having said this, it's not essential (based on post by ackbar).
Firsty, I would call AADSAS, and find out if your application has been sent out, if not, ask if you can make any changes. It's worth a try.
If the above doesn't work, you may want to contact an advisor, or maybe a few dental schools that you didn't apply to! Just to get their opinion in this matter. That way, you get an opinion from some of the schools, without it effecting you application in any way, since you won't be applying to these schoos! Basically you want to find out whether it is desirable or not to send letter to dental schools explaining your poor semester(s).
If you think it is absoultley critical that you explain your mishaps, then go ahead, follow my advice, but as ackbar mentioned, he got in without explaining his (it's not essential for acceptance), and you may have a chance to talk about it during interviews.
Let me Know what happnes (and sorry for diverting from your OP)
