Was just perusing the aadsas webby.

it says a time will open in november to update your grades, classes etc.

im doing my pre reqs this year. ill be applying midway thru them, IE when i submit my app they wont have grades for more than half of the pre reqs.

Does this mean ill be hurt by applying early? IE theyll have about 20 hours of science to judge me on (since i cant update them at tthe end of summer, till november).

would like to piggyback on this question. I'll be ready to submit aadsas in June, but will be taking a couple of bio courses over the summer. My prereqs are done, but it was suggested by an adcom that I take more bio b/c I've been out of school for 7 yrs.

like the original poster's question - will we be able to update schools at the end of the summer by sending in a transcript, or does everything have to wait until the official AADSAS academic update period in Nov? weighing out applying early vs. finishing classes first - any benefits to waiting?

No you won't be hurt by applying early. Some schools may wait to give you an interview or hold off on an acceptance until you complete the academic update to see how you fared. Apply early and do good on your classes. Good luck!

Apply early! I would definitely send my transcript after you took the classes but I think most schools will still wait for the academic update.

I was in a similar boat. I also kept my "target schools" abreast with fax updates and unofficial transcripts on how I was progressing with my coursework. Of course, I shot off official copies when they were available.

It does not look the best to be missing prereqs at application time. Schools want to be sure you have the "juice" to succeed in their rigorous program. If you are prereq deficient on your app, you should have other academic achievements which reflect challenges, both in time management and effort (ie: high course load in a challenging curriculum.)

That being said, I was missing (for UW) all Bio, all OCHem, BioChem, and MicroBio courses at time of application. By interview date early this month I had them about half knocked off. The number one "issue" the interviewers (who are your advocates to the Admissions Committee) had with me was wanting to know if I could handle the heavy didactic course load. Luckily, I had a challenging undergrad and post-grad academic experience (both engineering in focus) to demonstrate I had the goods to succeed.

Best of luck. I'll be rooting for you. Make sure to stay on top of your target schools with updates on both classes and your interest!
