Academic Update Question

Hey guys! So I've been a lurker on this site for some time and had a quick question. I'm currently doing a Master's in Biomedical Sciences and planning on applying this upcoming cycle. However, in undergrad, I got C-'s in both Orgo I and Orgo I lab so I've decided to re-take them this summer because I know some schools don't even look at you if you anything below a C-. However, the classes don't end until July 6th and I wanted to submit my app before that. But I've heard that once you've submitted your app, you can't input new grades or anything until the academic update in December. Will schools immediately throw my application to the side because I didn't meet the requirements when I submitted my app? Should I wait until July to submit my app? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There is a place to enter courses in progress or ones that you will take and they will see that. The requirements just need to be met by time you start dental school so you should be fine.

You get an academic update after the fall semester and can submit LORs later, but everything else is final after you submit. Some schools will let you send them updates so keep doing things to stay competitive after you submit.

I would consider waiting until your grades come back to apply, it's not like July so terribly late. You can finish everything else on your application early and just add the grades and submit when you get them. Sometimes I think people put a little too much importance on applying super early. You're not going to get accepted over a better applicant just because you applied in June and they applied in August.

But of course, as with most questions I see on here, there is no right or wrong answer. Just do whatever you think will give you the best chance.
