Academic Update

Can academic update be used to an applicants advantage? I'm asking because I am retaking genetics (got a C-) and microbiology lab (got a C-). I am applying this cycle (2013-2014)...I know we need a C or better in both and im shooting for an A. Will they look at my updates and reconsider me for acceptance? My pre-req GPA is a 3.1/4.0. I am taking my OAT in August.

I guess you don't really have a choice unless you're suggesting either submitting your application early and hoping for the best or submitting later after the As have come in.

Given those two options, I'd be confused too! I'd talk to a career counselor at your college and/or call up an admissions counselor at the optometry schools you're looking at to get their opinion. They can be very helpful.
