After you've been accepted to your top school, did you email all the other schools who are still reviewing your file to withdraw your application? How did you do it politely? Or did you just wait until they sent you an interview invitation to politely turn it down?

I said something like "(say something good about that school.) However, I got the acceptance from my state school. Therefore, I'd like to withdraw my application. Thank you very much"

👍

My situation was a bit more awkward. School A had admitted me on Dec. 3 w/ scholarship. I accepted it and the school even waived the initial deposit for me. Come mid-Janurary, the school I was really holding out for came through. I just wrote a polite email to the admissions coordinator and explained that I'll be attending School B for x,y,z reasons. They just emailed back and thanked me for informing them promptly.

Actually, it was, as I had signed a letter for a scholarship and had spoke to the coordinator about waiving my deposit since I was a "for-sure" student. I didn't hesitate to let them know as soon as the other school decision came though.
