I apologize if this has been covered, I searched but could find anything specific. I currently hold an acceptance at the U of M and was notified today (5/2) that I've been accepted off the waitlist for USUHS. I'm in the process of completing a HPSP scholarship to pay for U of M but if it falls through, I want the option to go to USUHS since I have a family and money is a factor. How long can I hold these two acceptances? I assume not long.

You can call the school to ask. By AAMC rules, the timeline should be 5 days. @gonnif might have a more nuanced understanding though.

@gonnif

By "holding" do you mean having deposits down? If we have one deposit down, but receive an offer, we're not violating terms, right?

No, that is incorrect. Once an offer of acceptance has been made from a new school, it will be transmitted the "old" school (ie the one you have a deposit down on) and the 5 day the clock starts ticking. You now must take action on this offer of acceptance or declining.

A school that I was accepted to yesterday is giving me until 5/10. Should I e-mail the school I have a deposit down at to let them know I'm waiting for financial aid information, which may take more than 5 days from yesterday?

@gonnif I am in the same situation as OP. If the school I was just accepted to says that I have two weeks to accept/reject their offer of acceptance, I have the full two weeks right? The five days does not apply correct?

Edit: Also if I were to accept the new school today, along with my previous acceptance. How long could I keep a deposit down at both schools?
