some are refundable, some not. usually couple hundred bucks. do it if you get accepted. you could always call the school your interested in.

usually refundable, usually around 100.

the schools do deposit your checks though (and then write you a refund check later) so if you are going to be holding 5 spots make sure you have the 500 in your checking account.

yes.

so far i've had one for $100 (refundable) and one with no deposit at all.

$500 seems way out of line though.
