1.) There's a Pre-Pharmacy forum. This should be posted there, not here.

2.) Good questions. Very original. Yeah, I'm pretty sure that threads about application tips or PCAT tips aren't abundant anywhere on the Pre-Pharmacy forum. It's too bad there's no function on this forum that would allow you to look around and search for the information you need. A "search function", if you will. Shame that doesn't exist...

I used Linus Pauling's General Chemistry to help with the chemistry section. Very easy to understand with some great PCAT-style questions at the end of each chapter.

1. Yeah, like u said, "pre-pharmacy"...this is why i posted this here on "pharmacy" where students have already undergone the pharmacy admission process and are in no competition so they would feel more open to sharing things. 😛

2. As for the pcat, I was asking for home-made study guides or anything available online, not specific application tips or questions.

For the most part, you can probably find some cheap copies of Kaplan or other review books for the material. From what I heard, the PCAT has changed within the last five years so my exam may not be the same as yours.

For the most part, reading comprehension and composition is limited by your own abilities; I can't imagine how much studying you can do to prep for that. For Biology and General Chemistry, I looked over my notes, looked at the topics covered in those Kaplan books and see if there's anything my professors didn't go over much or I don't have a strong grasp of. I was taking Organic Chemistry at the time so much of the items were review and I wasn't going to stress too much on things that I probably won't see on the exam or haven't learned yet.

From what I've read there's plenty of helpful posts in the pre-pharm and PCAT discussion forums. A few pharmacy students regularly post there also. lol this isn't some cutthroat competition, this is a community forum.

And as mentioned in your other thread, no one's going to tailor a study guide for you lol, that's going a bit far. Buy a Kaplan or McGraw-Hill guide.

I have to strongly disagree with that, although I do understand the reasoning. The truth is though, you really can increase your speed significantly when it comes to reading/scanning articles for information, and thus increase your score on the reading comprehension section. You just HAVE to practice it. When I first started studying for the PCAT, I could never get past the 4th article on the timed mock reading comprehension sections. By the time I took the actual PCAT, I was able to finish the whole section.

I just bought a Kaplan book and read the entire thing couple of times. It wasn't the best, but it was sufficient and I didn't feel like devoting my entire summer to the PCAT. As far as home-made notes go, I highly doubt people made up their own study-guides... so I would suggest for you to go out and get yourself a PCAT study-guide books and get busy reading.

P.S. Reading other people's study guides never did me any good with any exams... they are sooo darn confusing.

does anybody how to delete a thread? It seems like this was very stupid Q to ask...but did receive a lot useful tips though. Thanks for your help ppl. 🙂
