If my lab was invited to submit a review article to a journal- when is it actually accepted? It's being submitted next week but is acceptance assumed if we were invited to do it? Obviously they can reject it if you submit trash, but in terms of updating a school do I just wait for it to pop up on pubmed so I can give the ID etc.?

Don’t say accepted yet. Even though you’ve been invited to submit, they may still ask you to make alterations to the content. Only say accepted once they’ve accepted it. Till then, say submitted.

Invited reviews can and do get rejected or sent back for revision. Just say its submitted or maybe wait 'till its accepted (I wouldn't wait till you get a PMID number, that can take a bit).

No, invited submission doesn't mean automatic acceptance. I find many of these "invitation" are advertisement for their journal.

Its for a new journal being developed at HMS, they are "inviting" labs within HMS/associated hospitals that focus on a certain topic (preserved for anonymity) to write a review for their first issue. Honestly don't know much more as of now but I was told its going to be published in February probably
