I have had the hardest time trying to study for three easy classes because my mind is so focused on everything but school. If anyone can help me to overcome this disease please share your thoughts on how to finish the semester strong when your already in 😕

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one struggling  ... just kidding...but I have a 9:00 am lower-division philosophy class that I’m taking and the only reason I'm able to wake up is because I promised a friend a ride to school everyday by 9:00 am...sad thing is...if it wasn't for that I'd probably wouldn't make it out of bed before 1:00 pm trying to makeup for loss of sleep over the past 4 years.

Sorry, I don't have any advice...but I can relate!! I totally checked out mentally the day I got my acceptance letter. Unfortunately, I don't have easy classes and really need to focus!(ORGO ll & PHYSICS ll). I'm just thankful that I only have one test left in each class.

I'm in the same boat. If I didn't have to show my ID on test day, I'd pay someone to study for me. :meanie: Just kidding! 😀

*goes back to studying every frickin' intermediate step of cellular respiration* 😴

i feel ya...have been since pre-Fall 04 finals, lol...very bad. 🙁

Is it bad that I've figured out I have to average a 38.75 on my last 2 orgo II tests to get a C? Yeah, I think I've checked out too.

Beast-

No kidding, I can't focus worth a @#$% either. Got to be careful as it would be tragic to stumble now. As to the original thread: I have NO idea how to get back the previous level of intensity (I'd settle for just my old attendance record).

I'm on the same boat too. But you can try forming a new study group. although it might be hard; but try to find someone say in their 2nd/3rd year and seems to be working their butts off. They don't technically have to be in ur class but someone that will give u motivation and someone that will make sure that u r on task. But the prob w/ me is I don't even want to go out to study anymore HAHAHA 😛

I have 3 midterms upcoming and guess what popped in my head.... Hey I just need a C!

I've got that senior syndrome/last semester syndrome thing too! I'm just glad that the only run of exams I have left are finals. I hope this wears off by the time school starts!!!

Definitely in the same darn slump as everyone else. My only motivator (actually my biggest fear & nightmare) to do well is the fact that my acceptance into USN is contingent on a C in Ochem II and Calculus. It would really stink to have come all this way just to have it blow up in my face the last 3 to 4 weeks of school. Please please let me pass. :scared:

I'm glad its not just me 😉
I've lost some of the drive that i had earlier.... I'm saving that till fall...taking a break.... when i really shouldn't be

have a P Chem II exam tomorrow..... but i spent the whole day out...( i guess i'm not to blame fully--the weather was so good today..80's here...which is not the usual...so I HAD to get out..u know) ....and now i'm doing everything to take my mind off of the impending tragedy that will occur tomorrow as I look at the question-paper....
I guess someone won't be sleeping tonight...i better get to it...

Your post was too appealing for me..🙂 i've got accepted for the fall..but while most of people are going thru the " all i need is a C" I am studying the same way I did before..to get A's.

I found this post funny because my partenaire is going crazy..we have a 2 months baby..and he thinks that i should close my books and spend more time with our son and be happy with C's. I just can't help it.

I figured out that I needed 49s on my last two orgo II tests to get a C! 😳

At least most of you are taking relevant classes - I'm taking lame bio classes just to finish up my major. Ultimate boredom.... 😴 I want to go already!

Just keep one thing in mind: SCHOLARSHIPS.

The higher your GPA, the better the chances. If your school gives out P1 scholarships, those will be based on your pre-req GPA (and possibly PCAT/need/etc.)

That being said... yeah, I don't study anymore either. Physics 102 is giving me issues, but that's more because my professor is a lunatic who is on the verge of being fired because he comes in during the exam and starts screaming... he even cursed a kid out last time and left the room for almost an hour so nobody could get their questions answered. What a nut. It's really hard to focus on that class when I have zero respect for the teacher, especially when I know I don't *need* an A! Thankfully, my other classes this semester are really easy (business statistics, 2 communications classes, microbiology.) I'm so glad I finished Organic 2 a semester early, or I'd be dying in that class right now!!

:meanie: Yes it is very challenging trying to get thru this last semester...before RX school.!!~* I am not nervous about studying, but nervous about my final grades...

It can get out of control if you get tooo excited about the fall.... Just maintain your studies and hopefully we all will do well!!~

good luck to all.... Hang in there... we're almost there..... 😳

Well...when i say..I am taking it easy it doesn't mean I don't study as much...i just find myself procrastinating...a lot...that's all...In the end the work still gets done...and don't any real problem maintaining my 3.9...... I still study to get A's as well....can't help it..i'm addicted to A's 😉 ..plus the more i study now...the easier it will be in the beggining of the pharm school
WVURxgal is right...keep the scholarships in mind....
but also keep this in mind-- once into pharm school...they start with a 0.0 gpa for all...so...
But I'm working for a bachelors...so hav to keep it up...
just find myself doing the work at the n'th hour... when i suddenly realize to be responsible

I like to think that we all will start pharm school with a 4.0!!!
It seems easier to "maintain" than to build up!

this may sound crazy but actually get enthusiastic about your classes for their own sake. If you sit around thinking about them only as a "bridge to pharmacy school" you will go quite mad.

to all of you taking orgo 2....watch out for that last exam! lol....i aced the first 2 tests, got a C on the last one, and a D on the final lol....i denno if its just me but the first 2/3 of orgo II was so easy i decided that the last 1/3 was too..big mistake! oh well haha! ...im totally in the same boat...i decided to Fail 2 of my classes that are not transferring in as credits and am working full-time instead...do u think thats a bad decision?? ..For some reason i don't mind having a 2.0 overall gpa yet all of my credit card debts paid off. 🙄

Yeah. I am having trouble caring a whole lot. If it wasn't for OChem, it would be much worse. I'll get an A in Physics 2 and Bio blindfolded, so its hard to pay too much attention to them.

Can't you just drop your classes instead of failing them?

I took the nicest nap today in class....... 😀

Well, I feel alot of pressure just left off me. Before, there are alot of pressure to study hard and get that A in the class. Now, I still study hard and go library every night. But i feel more relax. Unfortunately, all of the classes i am taking this semester are requirement. Pretty hard. still alot of study need to be done before the summer roll around. still it's great to know that you finally made it 😀

i actually enjoy my immunology and anatomy classes.

things i do not enjoy:

anatomy lab (its all been utter nonsense busy work after the dissection part ended)

statistics... sooooooooooooooooooo.....................boring.............

gah. Fortunately i have A's in everything so far. prayin to jesus i keep them through the finals!

Senioritis. If only there were a drug that fixed everything, eh? 😀

ha, ha same here [30something percent]...takes a little bit of the pressure off, eh!

Once I recieved my admissions letter to pharmacy school...I stopped attending class entirely. The only days I went to school were on test days to take the exams. My GPA dropped a lil bit and I got a couple B grades, but otherwise it was certainly worth having the extra time.

naughty naughty. You were fortunate to be taking classes you could afford to skip! All my classes now require lots of note-taking and/or attendence is recorded.

but i know how lovely it is to skip class....i never went to psychology class ever except totake the tests and i still got an A. why waste time in a class in which the teacher babbles about things not on the test?

I don't see a point in going to class when the professors basically give us the handouts which you simply need to memorize to do well (except this one Bio elective course which I absolutley abhor because the professor is not very favorable) . . . nothing more to the handouts that I would learn if I did go to class. I've finshed all my pre-req's since last summer (just taking electives to get a BS) which makes it even harder to focus . . . 1 more month til I finally get my BS . . . until then, school's going to be a drag!!!

I'm probably going to have a tough time with my "Intellectual Heritage II" (aka philosophy) class, but I'll stick with it.

I wonder what would happen to a person who's already accepted into the pharmacy school but cannot maintain the min. required gpa. Would they get kicked out or would the school accept them anyway?

C's are looking pretty nice these days. D's may be becoming more of a reality. 🙁

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE more Final and I"M DONE! 😛

I only have one class this summer before pharm school . physics.

and yes it is hard to study for it 😛

in my organic chem 1+2 classes at community college last summer, there were a couple of students (male & female) who were already accepted into a Pharm.D. program who were BARELY cutting it. Our professor gave us tons of chances to earn a good grade in the class - we could drop our lower lab grade, we could drop our lowest test grade, etc. Those students just didn't seem to be trying.
I recall the one girl having a heart-to-heart with the professor about whether she could still earn a "C" in the class. I kind of felt bad for her, but she could have at least busted her butt a little bit.
I wonder sometimes if they got a good-enough grade to matriculate into their programs.

For UT COP I know that Ochem2 is a pre-req and that you must pass this class with a C even after being admitted. Personally, I think that having been accepted but not being able to attend because you weren't able to pass a class is the worst thing that can possibly happen. That's why it was very easy to motivate myself to study for my last semester of classes.

The only letters I received when classes were still in session were rejection letters from three pharmacy schools, they motivated me.

I received my acceptance letter at the end of the semester.

Good luck !!

and just think, when its all over we are going to be freshman all over again.

kinda strange.......to be a pseudofrosh
