1) Wasn't the same AMCAS Letter ID number used for both letters? If so, the second would be appended to the first and both would be sent to the school. Who's to say that the letter writer didn't realize the error on their own and resubmit the second letter after a correction?I accidentally uploaded 2 LOR from the same author for one of my schools. The two letters differed in my title in a leadership position. There was miscommunication regarding my exact role title which I cleared up and the author agreed to submit a new letter to interfolio. I have not read either letters as they were uploaded to Interfolio and then to AMCAS. Unfortunately, I accidenlty uploaded both letter to one of my school (fortunatly only one)
1) Would this be an issue, and what is the worst that can happen?
2) Is there potential for disciplinary action and would this show up on my amcas record becaue the author shared with me the information about title for the first letter and which she changed in the second.
The worst that can happen is that someone would reach out to the letter writer and ask why there are two versions, but assuming they had different dates, and little difference between the versions, the answer is pretty self evident, so I don't see that happening.
2) While you are expected to waive the right to have access to your LORs on demand, the letter writer is still free to share the letter with you if they wish. There is no impropriety if they do so, and therefore no cause for a disciplinary action.
