I was taking a look at some of the participating PGY1 programs in the ASHP Resident Matching Program and saw that some had their Accreditation Status as "Candidate" instead of "Accredited". Does this mean that these programs are not considered accredited by ASHP and those residents would not be able to apply for a PGY2 through the Match program the following year? Thanks!

Has this really not been discussed on this forum before?

At any rate, a resident in a "candidate" or "pre-candidate" program has the same rights in terms of applying to PGY2s as someone in a fully accredited program. Now, if you're in a program that's completely unaccredited, you cannot apply for an accredited PGY2.
