I'm just wondering, dental schools want you to have a degree (bachelors, or if u continue on to a masters or a postbacc) from a school that is accredited, right? so what exactly does that mean.....and isnt every school accredited? what is an example of school thats not accredited? i checked my community college, bc i assumed it wouldnt be accredited since its community, but they are accredited.

generally what ive seen is, the whole school is said to be accredited, but do all majors (ie-biology department) need to be specificallly accredited as well?

Accreditation is given by a governing body or government depending on where you live, it essentially makes sure that those schools follow an ethical code and overall run on acceptable standards. A lot of schools are accredited, but there are quite a few religious and other post-secondary institutions that are not. Here is a list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unaccredited_institutions_of_higher_education

Sometimes a school can be accredited to give only such and such degree but not others. For example school X can give you a science degree but not a business degree.

ohhhhhh, so when it lists that a school is "fully accredited" does that means all degrees are accredited if they dont list specifics following that?
