So I recently started taking 2 courses at a community college.
I know when I do the academic update (this week) I will have to add the classes in. Will I then have to send my transcripts from this community college, even though there is not really anything on them other than that I am taking the courses?

Also, I am planning on taking another class in the summer from a different university. I have not registered for the class yet, however I do think the schools will look at it positively. Should I put this course in as planned? What would need to be done about transcripts for this school?

Finally - I just came across this:

  • Submit your updated courses and transcripts to PTCAS immediately and by no later than the JANUARY 14, 2011 priority deadline. PTCAS will accept transcripts after January 15, but your designated PT programs may not consider late materials.*
  • The AU will close on FEBRUARY 1, 2011. You cannot edit your courses after this date.
For some reason I missed the January 14th part before.

Any advice? Should I just add in the courses I'm taking now?

thanks for the help.

Hey, If I was still taking classes all the way through the summer of 2011 before PT school starts I would have put all the classes I planned on taking back in August when I first e-submitted. I would have filled in Fall 2010, Spring 2011, and Summer 2011 back then and just update the Fall 2010 grades during the AU and have kept the spring and summer under planned status. This is what I would have done.

As for sending in CC transcripts for the spring classes you are taking now, I would send in the transcripts if they show you are enrolled in the classes. If not then I wouldn't worry about it.

And weve been talking about the AU for a while on here. It's unfortunate you missed the January 14 deadline.(Im :nono: at you for not catching that) but Im pretty sure your head has been spinning with the interview, finals, etc, you just lost track of the dates.

How much, if it all, does it factor in if you end up not taking what you had "planned" to do, according to your Academic Update? I plan to take some courses but it all depends on which school I get accepted into. If the one I end up going to doesn't require them, then I won't take them. Does this matter?

Thanks! 🙂

Hey jojo I was assuming she absolutely had to take the class....know what I mean...Like Physics 1 in the spring, then physics 2 in the summer.

In your case, I met a few people on SDN that was in a similar situation last year, they did not put that they planned on taking Chem 2, but when they got accepted, they took it the summer before PT school starts. (He received a conditional acceptance letter, to meet their pre-reqs)

So if I were in your case I probably would not enter the classes unless you absolutely have to have it. I hate calling programs, because sometimes they are not the easiest to talk to, but I would contact the program in question. honestly though, In my opinion, I dont think you need to list it unless you absolutely plan on taking it.

On the other hand, if you get accepted without conditions, and you still had courses under planned status, then it shouldn't matter and you can surely explain it to the program.

It wont matter at all IMO

Well, I'm already graduated, so no it wasn't a physics one/two situation. I'll explain: This is actually for my back-up plan to PT school, which I just received an acceptance letter for and also found out a few of my classes didn't transfer. I signed up at the local CC on Friday, the last day to register - luckily.

I had known this all was a possibility which is why I didn't do my academic update ASAP. I saw the February 1st deadline - my fault for not reading more carefully - and thought I had time. I am also dissapointted bizzle, I'm usually on top of these things. But I guess in a way it's a good thing since I now have to add these courses in.

Anyways, I think I am still fine because I have all the prereqs for PT school. These would just be extra courses for the PT schools.

As far as the summer class, it is similar to jojo's situation. I MAY take it - but I am signing up now because I don't want the class to be full.
It is an anatomy course. My current anatomy is through the kines department, a lot of school's prefer it to be through the bio department.

So I guess my question is should I put the possible summer anatomy, which is through a whole different university, on my application? and If I do, would I have to send transcripts for it? I am not registered for the class yet (I should be this week, if all goes as planned) so I'm not even sure how that would work.

I guess the other thing I could do is leave the planned anatomy out and email the programs that prefer the bio anatomy and tell them I have it planned?

I added the current CC courses and they are sending my transcripts tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.

PTCAS is such a joke when they categorized the A&P as a movement science. My A&P classes were both from the BIO department, but since I was an ex science major they said that its a movement science. I didn't bother with them becuse I KNOW the schools that I applied to, look into it (thats what supplemental fees are for) and sure enough they didn't mind accepting me or interviewing me.

You can go either way with this....and since you've already graduated I wouldn't enter it unless it satisfies pre-reqs. But if you do decide to enter it, then you wouldn't need to send in the transcripts until there is a grade on it. Plus, your past the deadline and schools might not accept the transcripts. Emailing them to tell them you have the A&P planned is the best.

Oh, also, there is only ONE academic update per cycle. All other grades from Spring and summer are sent straight to the program not PTCAS.

I am just going to hold off on adding the anatomy and email the two schools who prefer it to let them know.

"Oh, also, there is only ONE academic update per cycle. All other grades from Spring and summer are sent straight to the program not PTCAS." - Was that towards me? I know this haha, not sure if you read something that I posted the wrong way

Either way, thanks again!
