This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'll be there, got my networking hat on and a bag for schwag.

Program directors love the hat.

This may be a stupid question, but as I know very little about this conference is this something that an M1 who is 99.99% sure they want to do EM would benefit from?

Roja,

Are you going to the APD CORD meeting at ACEP. If you are, I will see you there!

I know it says business casual, but from those who have gone before, any reason to bring a sports jacket? (Opening party etc)

No. Business casual will be jeans/khakis and a polo shirt.

If looking to impress a certain group while here then maybe; otherwise don't bother.

Yes, it's business casual. With the exception of certain receptions, presenting a poster, etc. Those would be good times to wear at least a tie, if not a tie and jacket.

I should be there, at least for part of the meeting. I have multiple time slots that are double booked with meetings! 🙂
👍

Sorry I missed y'all in Boston.

I thought it was a pretty good conference. I'm surprised General went to hear Begala. I figured from his prior posts you were going to boycott.

I was in the same room and thought it was a decent speech (I thought Angela's was very good, if not better). You've got to love the Elliott Spitzer line, though.

I think my best lecture was David Newman's on NNT. Outstanding content and even better delivery.

Take care,
Jeff

Begala-good for a giggle, but how lopsided can you get? Maybe that was the point.

I'm still pretty fresh to critiquing speakers, but Amal Mattu wows me every time. This was my second trip on his EKG tour. On my first shift back the updated examples have me taking a second look at every tracing thrust in front of me. Good stuff.

He also gave a great talk on public speaking and giving medical lectures.

Also, congrats to those residents who won the ACEP party. It's good to see people can still get down after med school.

Now that I've finished my string of 5 shifts after returning from Boston...

I went to a radiology lecture that discussed how to do retinal US looking for detachment or vitreous hemorrhage.

First shift back I did two. Didn't find anything but still.

Take care,
Jeff

So I'm doing optho this month because I felt completely uncomfortable with it on my ED months, and I told the attending that the ED residents look with the u/s for detachment or globe rupture if it's indicated and her response (to the other attendings) "you mean . . . like what they do on babies . . . [giggle, giggle, giggle]"

I'm not sure I get the ophtho response. Were they saying they didn't know about using US for this, that it was inaccurate or that, despite it's accuracy and ease of use, EPs couldn't do it?

Take care,
Jeff
