As a student who wants to go into EM, how useful is stuff like joining ACEP? I mean, I know you get access to the journal of EM and stuff, but other than that...is there any use in spending the 50 bucks or whatever to join?

You also automatically join EMRA when you sign up for ACEP, which has a pretty nice section for students. Some of it you can only access as a member though. www.emra.org

I don't think it's essential to join as a student or anything, but if you like the journal it's probably worth it. Maybe other people can point out more compelling reasons.

i was told to join by an EM mentor, and found it extremely useful. being a member shows your interest on your cv for residency. also, you keep up to date with what's going on in em, and can see what programs are active in the field. it'll give you things to talk about on your interviews.
