So my weakest GC section is Acids, Bases and Buffers. I read the BR and the Kaplan stuff on it, but it still seems to fool me! Any suggestions on how to master this?

that was my weakest spot as well, and its a pretty important topic too. BR will really help you on this section.

Thank you so much for the advice. I did an acid base passage and a buffer passage and got a 4/7 and 0/7 respectively. I was really alarmed by the 0 and wanted to eliminate it!

I know, it hurt when I corrected it. I went through and understood (somewhat) what they were saying. Acids and Bases and Buffers has ALWAYS been a weak spot for me. I sometimes look at it and am like w.t.f.???

I was wondering, if you have experience on this, does doing practice problems really help with MCAT? I know it's helpful but does it cover most of the ways that AAMC will ask questions? I'm hopeful that it does, but reassurance is always nice.

I have taken the Mcat already and voided (went in knowing I was going to void). The first time I did review from BR and the. Completed about 2 passages per section. I was scoring 11-12 in the sciences. This time around (April 24) I'm planning on competing all the BR passages and all the TPR passages. I feel as if the more questions you do, the better understanding you will get at each topic from different asking points if that makes sense. For me at least, I'll listen or read a review of a topic and I feel like I know it but then when I see a question I'm lost. (Ex. Buoyancy )fml

Sounds like the story of my life!! I was wondering what you thought about TPR books? I've read a lot that people say to use the hyper learning book if possible but I only have the EK, kaplan and BR materials.

I'm using TPR biology for content review and the TPRH science workbook. I've only done 15 or so bio passages in it and they are pretty good. I use BR right now for the other subjects. I'm gonna do TPRH after BR.

I find the Buffer and Titration section from TBR the most difficult so far in the first book for General Chemistry (I've only completed the first book at this point). I think the key is understanding all of the definitions and then applying them in each question, which sounds pretty obvious, but as I do more practice questions, it seems especially important here. For example, knowing which reactant is the conjugate base or conjugate acid, and then how they relate to each other concentration-wise, and how that affects the pKa or pH of the solution. Anyway, good luck with it. Just get some more practice!
