Just did it the other day, and hospitals definitely accept it. Seem kinda shady, but if you are in a field like radiology or path it doesn't make much of a difference. I used http://www.aclsonlinerenewal.com/
If you have the book then its pretty easy. You get two chances to pass. My program even gave me a day off to take the test and reimbursed me.
I'd make sure they don't require the program to be certified by the AHA before throwing down 150 bucks. Since they have this in their FAQ.
Q: Are you accredited by the AHA?
A: Our training material and exams are crafted after the official ACLS provider manual and follow current ECC guidelines. Our programs are designed in an accelerated format and can be completed entirely from a computer. The AHA at this time does not endorse any fully online course or exam.
I did it online and just went to do the mega code. Gave them the certificate from online, passed the megacode and got my ACLS card (which is from AHA).

Yea, that's the way to go.
HeartCode ACLS is the online module from the AHA and once you do that, all you need to do is take the paperwork to any megacode place and get your card. Saves at least 4 hours of recert time.
Wow, I didn't even know you can do ACLS online. It does seem kinda shady but I guess if you are a psychiatrist, radiologist or pathologist etc...it doesn't matter too much.
